December is a time when cities are filled with lights, offices are decorated with garlands, and festive events fill the calendar. For some, this month is a time for summarizing the year and enjoying warm interactions with colleagues, while for others, it is a test of the corporate format. Some look forward to fun evenings with the team, while others would prefer to spend their time on vacation. A survey by the platform headhunter.kg helped to find out how Kyrgyz people perceive corporate events: are they a celebration or a mandatory ritual at the end of the year.

Common Opinions of Employers and Job Seekers

“At our last corporate event, we rented a cozy hall with a view of the mountains. When we stepped out onto the terrace, the whole team watched the sunset over the Alamedin Gorge. We took a group photo, and at that moment, we felt true unity.”

“In our company, we love to hold contests. Last year, we had a contest for the best national song. Some came out with a komuz, while others performed modern music. The atmosphere was incredibly friendly, and even the shyest colleagues opened up.”

“One of the most memorable corporate events was when we went to Cholpon-Ata in winter. We went ice skating, drank hot tea on the shores of Issyk-Kul, and organized a small flash mob. Despite the frost, the atmosphere was very warm.”

Conclusions

The results of the headhunter.kg survey show that both employers and employees agree that corporate events should take place in a light and relaxed atmosphere, without pressure and formalities. The most annoying factor is forced fun (44%), while the most important aspect of a successful event is the atmosphere of equality (42-49%).

Although 22-25% of people dislike corporate events, the majority see them as an opportunity for communication, relaxation, and strengthening team spirit.
