Paul Biya, who has held the presidency of Cameroon since 1982, has once again won the election, receiving 53.66% of the votes, according to results published by the country's Constitutional Court.
The elections took place on October 12, and, according to the rules, the Constitutional Court had 15 days to finalize the results. The electoral commission noted that the voting was conducted peacefully.
For the 92-year-old Biya, this will be his eighth term as president.
It is noteworthy that during the election campaign, he held only one rally, spending most of his time in Europe on a private visit.
