What is solar activation and how does it affect Earth

On March 9 of this year, the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported the discovery of dark spots on the left edge of the Sun, just above its equator. Scientists analyzed these phenomena and concluded that solar activity is increasing. They also noted that in 2035, 2046, and 2057, subsequent cycles may be more powerful than the current one.

“This may affect satellites, navigation systems, and the ionosphere. Therefore, it is important for people to be prepared for the consequences associated with solar activity,” the researchers added.

The agency "Kabar" became interested in the reasons for this phenomenon and its possible consequences for humans.

The dean of the Faculty of Physics and Electronics at the Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn, Samat Toktogonov, explained that solar activation is a natural process that repeats with a periodicity of 11 years.

“This does not pose a threat to Earth. Activity can vary, and when it intensifies, it primarily concerns space stations that do not have adequate protection,” he noted.
“The Earth is protected by layers of the ionosphere and ozone layer. During heightened activity, some particles may reach Earth, but primarily this impact only affects communication technologies,” the specialist added.
“Such technologies include mobile operators and television and radio broadcasting systems that transmit signals using waves. However, experts know how to protect themselves in such situations, so it does not pose a danger,” he concluded.
Sunspots appear on the surface of the Sun due to the accumulation of magnetic fields. They appear darker because their temperature is lower than that of the surrounding areas.

These spots indicate a high level of magnetic activity and can sometimes be accompanied by solar flares.
