This issue was raised on March 12 at a coordination meeting dedicated to law enforcement and security issues.
During the meeting, which also discussed topics related to entrepreneurship support and preventing domestic violence, the question of housing for women affected by domestic violence was raised.
Participants in the meeting noted that women forced to leave their homes due to violence often cannot find a safe place with relatives and return to where they continue to suffer. The closure of the crisis center that temporarily accommodated such women has exacerbated the situation.
The regional prosecutor, Turusbek Ishenaliev, emphasized the lack of crisis centers and highlighted the importance of their establishment for local authorities.
“There is not a single crisis center for women in the Jalal-Abad region. The previous institution, funded by international projects, has closed. It is necessary to open crisis centers in every district and city, even with 3-4 beds, where psychologists and lawyers are available to provide assistance. It is also important to address employment issues. If a woman wants to live separately but does not have her own housing, she ends up back in her previous home, which only intensifies the conflict. These circumstances must be taken into account when forming the budget,” he noted.
- In 2019, a crisis center called "Kaniyet" was opened in the city of Manas, which accommodated women and children, but it has since ceased operations.
