39-year-old Nazira Nuraeva, living in Talas, decided to start her own business in poultry farming, taking advantage of a social contract.

During a conversation with a Turmush correspondent, she shared that she is a teacher by profession. During her maternity leave, the family faced financial difficulties, as the only source of income was child benefits amounting to 3,600 soms for three children, and they needed to find additional means of support.

“In 2024, we received 100,000 soms through the social contract program and decided to start a business. The idea of raising chickens belonged to my husband, who had long been interested in this field. Initially, we purchased 40 Leghorn chickens in Bishkek, at a price of 1,800–2,000 soms each. These chickens lay eggs year-round and are of the egg-laying type,” Nazira recounts.

However, the first experience was not easy: in winter, due to severe cold, a large part of the flock perished. Despite this, they did not give up on their plan.

“At that time, we had already started selling eggs and managed to acquire customers. Later, we bought Adler breed chickens again and now collect more than 20 eggs a day,” she added.

According to Nazira, the eggs from their farm are mainly bought for incubation.

“Customers come for eggs priced at 50 soms each, but in winter the price drops to 15 soms,” she noted.

“The proceeds primarily go to purchasing feed. We feed the chickens crushed, enriched wheat. Just like with cattle, raising a quality breed of poultry brings good income. For example, an Adler rooster costs more than 2,000 soms, while a regular one is only 500 soms. The difference is significant,” Nazira explained.

Note: The "Social Contract" program was created to support families receiving benefits in starting their own businesses and improving living conditions. Since 2023, the support amount has been 100,000 soms, and this year it has been increased to 150,000 soms. Many families that have taken advantage of this program have been able to significantly increase their annual income, reaching one million soms and creating new jobs.
