Residents of border villages in the Batken region, who lost their land plots as a result of the delimitation and demarcation of borders with Tajikistan, have begun to receive agricultural land in return.

Danir Imanaliev, the akim of the Batken region, reported that to simplify the process, the authorities divided the territory into two zones:

- The Western zone includes the villages of Ak-Sai, Tash-Tumshuk, as well as the areas of Mazeyit, Kok-Terek, and Samarkandek.

- The Eastern zone covers the village of Kara-Bak.

According to the akim, as of today, plots have already been transferred to the residents of the villages of Tash-Tumshuk, Kok-Terek, and the area of Mazeyit. These lands are also designated for agricultural use and were previously under the control of the Tajik side.

In total, it is planned to provide land plots to about 1500 citizens. “At the moment, residents of the village of Ak-Sai are awaiting their plots, and then it will be Kara-Bak's turn. The size of the allocated plots varies from 4 to 20 acres, depending on the area of the land that was previously owned. We pay attention to each case and carefully process the documentation,” added Imanaliev.

Although the process of inventorying and documenting requires significant time, the district administration plans to complete the issuance of land in the very near future.

The akimat assures that the villagers will receive their plots before the end of the spring fieldwork this year. If a resident had a plot with a garden, the authorities strive to provide land with fruit trees in return.

The akim noted that the work is being carried out in close cooperation with local residents. In total, about 400 hectares of agricultural land have been transferred from the Tajik side to the Batken region, which will be fully distributed among those affected.
