In Naryn, there is a recorded increase in the jackal population, which raises serious concerns, reports Turmush correspondent.

In response to this situation, in the At-Bashy district, the group "At-Bashy Mergenchilery" (which translates to "Hunters of At-Bashy") together with representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources are organizing activities to control and reduce the number of these predators.

As noted by hunter Talaybek Baybotoev, the number of jackals has significantly increased at this time.

“It has been over ten years since jackals appeared in our area. These animals have a high ability to adapt and reproduce in challenging conditions. If we do not take steps to regulate their population, they not only destroy small animals in the forests but also pose a serious threat to local residents. Recently, there have been more frequent reports of jackals entering villages at night and appearing on the streets,” he noted.

Jackals are primary carriers of dangerous diseases such as rabies, echinococcosis, and alveococcosis. Bites from these animals can pose a threat to human health, and in the case of a significant increase in their numbers, they may attack people. Additionally, jackals cause damage to local agriculture by eating poultry and newborn calves.

This problem affects not only At-Bashy but also the entire territory of Kyrgyzstan. There is also a high number of jackals observed in the forests of Naryn.

In the coming years, we plan to continue working on the ground, and if we receive requests from local residents or the administration, we will conduct special raids to assist the population,” added T. Baybotoev.
