Turmush reported that on March 26, a meeting of local residents and representatives of government agencies took place in the city of Tokmok, organized at the initiative of President Sadyr Japarov to discuss pressing issues in the eastern zone of the Chui region, including the Kemin, Chui, Issyk-Ata, and Alamedin districts.
Local residents express serious concern about the situation at this section of the road. One of them noted: “There are constant accidents when turning off the main highway towards the village of Nur. Recently, three major traffic accidents have been recorded, one of which resulted in a fatality. We urgently request the installation of a traffic light at the intersection, as pedestrians and drivers cannot safely cross the road due to heavy traffic.”
According to information from the Main Department of Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this section of the road has international status. Currently, there are signs limiting the speed to 60–70 km/h.
The head of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Chui region, Kanibek Abdyrahmanov, ordered round-the-clock duty of officers at this dangerous stretch. “Until all necessary requirements for the installation of a traffic light or video surveillance cameras are met, you must ensure safety at this section at any time of day. Protecting the lives of citizens at this turn must be a top priority,” he stated.
