Kyrgyzstan participated in the poetry festival in Ryazan
Every year on March 21, the world celebrates World Poetry Day. This holiday was established by UNESCO, which believes that poetry can address the most important questions concerning modernity. It unites peoples and cultures, helping people to better understand one another. For centuries, poetic works have penetrated hearts and souls, reminding us that despite our differences, we all belong to one large family.

In recent years, perhaps this reminder is what the world needs the most.

In Russia, poetry festivals are held regularly, and Ryazan, the birthplace of the famous poet Sergei Yesenin, becomes their center. The All-Russian festival dedicated to Yesenin takes place in the fall, in October, in honor of his birthday, while in March, coinciding with World Poetry Day, an event called "The Poetry of the Russian Soul" is organized at the Gorky Library.

This event includes literary evenings, meetings with poets and writers, as well as recitation contests.

On March 24, 2026, another event took place here, gathering students from Ryazan universities and colleges, as well as guests from abroad. Participants read works of classical and modern Russian poetry in the foreign language they are studying. As the organizers noted, the creativity of Russian poets helps participants not only deepen their linguistic knowledge but also immerse themselves in Russian culture and its traditions.

The "Poetry of the Russian Soul" festival brought together about forty participants from Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Angola, Cameroon, Tunisia, Morocco, and Guinea-Bissau. The event featured poems by Pushkin, Lermontov, Akhmatova, and other great poets.

Joining the event online was Galina Ketova, president of the Union of Compatriots in the Kyrgyz Republic and a distinguished artist, who noted: "In the face of complex challenges, thanks to the Russian language, we can, while being in different corners of the world, touch the world of light and kindness that Russian literature offers us."

She urged participants to turn to the great Russian poetry and language more often.

Kyrgyzstan, where Russian is an official language, actively supports educational and cultural initiatives, and the humanitarian sphere becomes an important bridge for dialogue in complex political conditions.
