On October 26, the KR Cup in Go — 2025 was held in Bishkek, gathering 120 participants from 14 clubs representing Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. This was reported by the press service of the Go Federation.
This tournament became the most significant event in the history of the game in Kyrgyzstan and a true celebration for fans of this ancient board strategy.
The competitions were held in four groups using the McMahon system in a blitz format. The competition was fierce, as each prize position had from 10 to 30 contenders.
Results of the tournament:
- 1st place — Bayel Abdymazhitov (kyu 3, Tensai club);
- 2nd place — Nursaid Sharshenov (kyu 1, Bilimkana JP);
- 3rd place — Fedor Kropochev (dan 1, Sengoku).
According to the organizers, the Kyrgyzstan Cup 2025 became not only a sports event but also an occasion that fostered community cohesion. The tournament demonstrated the growing interest in go among youth and adults, as well as the high level of player preparation in various regions.
“We are proud of every participant — you help shape the future of go in Kyrgyzstan. Next year, we plan to increase the number of participants to 150,” emphasized the federation representatives.
