Online Chess Tournament Unites Players from 18 Countries

On the World Chess platform, the official online partner of FIDE, a New Year chess tournament took place, gathering 155 participants from 18 countries. The competition was held in a blitz format and used the Swiss system, which contributed to the high dynamics of the games and equal conditions for all. Results were automatically calculated by the platform's system.

The winner of the tournament was Emir Sharshenbekov, with Airat Derkembaev in second place. The third prize went to Eldar Moldaliev. All prize winners were awarded PRO subscriptions from World Chess, as well as additional prizes from the organizers. Participants who took 4th to 6th places also received PRO subscriptions.

In a separate category for women, the victory was claimed by Rayana Smagulova, who scored 6 points out of 9 possible, securing her title as the best among the female participants of the tournament.

The tournament was yet another testament to the growing interest in online chess and its accessibility for players around the world, as well as playing an important role in popularizing chess on the international stage.
