From November 20 to 30, the 27th Asian Chess Championship for boys and girls aged 8 to 18 took place in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. The tournament featured 700 chess players from 32 countries, including 6 players from Mongolia.
In the G16 girls' category, EMUJIN Enkh-Amgalan won the gold medal and the Golden Cup, scoring 7.5 points out of 9, and became the ASIAN CHAMPION! Second place was taken by Maria Nikolaevna Vlasova from FIDE, and third place went to Yasmina Alemanova from Kazakhstan.
Emujin, a master of the International Chess Federation, ranks 2138th in the ratings. She achieved this success by defeating two Indian opponents, who are ranked around 2300, in the eighth and ninth rounds.
The competitions were held in six age categories, covering 12 groups and disciplines, including classical, rapid, and blitz. The classical and blitz formats consisted of 9 rounds, while the rapid format had 7. All groups played using the Swiss system. Time control varied: classical – 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move, rapid – 15 minutes plus 5 seconds, and blitz – 3 minutes plus 2 seconds per move.
Chess players who finished in the top three places, as well as those who met the necessary rating requirements, will receive international titles from FIDE.
