He reported that both kokpar and kok-boru are included in the competition program.
“The Kazakh side proposed this initiative. We will follow all established rules, and our athletes will be able to participate in kokpar while respecting the wishes of our neighbors,” he noted.
Previously, the organizing committee announced that kokpar would not be included in the program of the Nomad Games 2026, and competitions in kok-boru were planned in a club format.
The head of the state agency added that they have abandoned the club format, and the competitions will take place in the usual format, with the participation of national teams.
Additionally, Moldazhiyev stated that preparations for the WNG-2026 are being carried out with a new approach.
“This is a kind of collaboration between sports and tourism. Every guest of the Nomad Games is a potential tourist for our country next year,” he explained.
According to him, the opening ceremony of the Games will take place on August 31 in Bishkek, and then, on September 1, participants will be transported to Issyk-Kul, with the sports competitions starting on September 2.
