According to Adenov, this decision was made based on an analysis of the experience from past competitions. An excessive number of weight categories creates organizational difficulties and negatively affects the dynamics of the competitions.
“Prolonged competitions in a single sport can tire both the spectators and the athletes themselves. We also provide participants with the opportunity to compete in several styles of wrestling, which should be taken into account,” he noted.
Adenov emphasized that the organizers will retain only those weight categories that generate the greatest interest among the public and maintain a balance between different disciplines.
It is important to consider the principle of equality and international balance, according to Adenov.
“If we focus exclusively on Kyrgyz sports, it may lead to the loss of the project. Other countries may refuse to participate if they do not see fairness. We discuss these issues in advance with international federations, and they understand our position,” he added.
The reduction of weight categories, as the head of the secretariat emphasized, is aimed at improving the spectacle of the games, maintaining sports competition, and preserving the interest of the international community in the World Nomad Games.
