At the VI World Nomad Games, it was decided to reduce the number of weight categories. This decision was announced at a press conference at the "Kabar" agency by Nursultan Adenov, the head of the International Secretariat of the World Nomad Games. Adenov noted that this measure was dictated by an analysis of previous Games. He emphasized that an excessive number of weight categories complicates the organization of competitions and can lead to a decrease in spectator interest. "If one sport lasts all day, spectators lose interest, and athletes get tired. Many of them strive to participate in several disciplines, and we provide such an opportunity," he explained.
As a result, it was decided to keep only the most popular weight categories that attract spectator interest. The program development also took into account the balance between national sports of various countries.
Adenov warned that an emphasis on exclusively Kyrgyz disciplines could negatively affect the international reputation of the Games. "If we promote only the national sports of one country, it may cause dissatisfaction among participants from other states, who will see this as a lack of fairness. Therefore, all decisions are made with consideration of the opinions of the relevant federations," he added.
