In the Ala-Archa gorge, the Open Championship of the Kyrgyz Republic in ice climbing took place, held at the Ak-Sai ice waterfall and dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the climbing section "SKIF-Polytech".
More than 40 athletes participated in the competition, including representatives from Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Kazakhstan.
Eduard Kubatov, president of the Federation of Mountaineering and Sport Climbing of Kyrgyzstan, noted that the international participation made these competitions a platform for experience exchange and interaction among mountain sports athletes from different countries in the region.
Ice climbing, as one of the most technically complex disciplines in mountain sports, requires athletes to have high physical fitness, endurance, and precision in movements on ice. The competitions were held on specially prepared routes on the natural terrain of the Ak-Sai waterfall.
The championship was organized by the Directorate for Non-Olympic Sports under the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Federation of Mountaineering and Sport Climbing of the Kyrgyz Republic.
To ensure the safety of participants, staff from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic were on site, ready for prompt response.
The chief judge of the championship, Nasiba Eshmuradova, emphasized that the goal of holding the competitions is to develop mountain sports in the country, strengthen the traditions of the national mountaineering school, and promote a culture of safe behavior in the mountains.
