The international freeride tournament is taking place at 'Ala-Tuu Resort'

In the Issyk-Kul region, on the territory of the state enterprise "Ala-Tuu Resort," in the administration of Khan-Tengri Ak-Suu district, an international freeride tournament has started, organized in collaboration with domestic and foreign partners.

Athletes underwent preparatory training on January 15 at the "Karako" ski base, where special safety training sessions were also held. The main stage of the competition began on January 16 directly at the site of the under-construction "Ala-Tuu Resort."

Participants include skiers and snowboarders from Kyrgyzstan and more than 20 countries. The competitions are held in the categories: "amateurs," "professionals," and "women."

Freeriders showcase their skills on steep slopes with deep snow, demonstrating speed control, balance, and precision in maneuvering, performing various technical elements and jumps. The judging panel evaluates the difficulty of the route, the logic of passage, safety, and the use of natural terrain.

Winners of the tournament will receive licenses to participate in international freeride competitions. The judging panel includes professional athletes with experience in the international FWT (Freeride World Tour) system, including Gael Ribordi from Switzerland, as well as Vasily Nemchenko and Takhir Damenbaev from Kyrgyzstan.

The main goal of the event is to promote Kyrgyzstan as an international winter tourist destination, develop extreme sports, and create a platform for experience exchange between local and foreign athletes.

Note: "Ala-Tuu Resort" is an ambitious project aimed at creating the largest ski cluster in Central Asia, which will unite the resorts of "Jyrgalan," "Ak-Bulak," and "Boz-Uchuk." The project plans to build about 250 km of ski trails, create 7,000 jobs, and attract up to 2 million tourists annually.

Construction is being carried out in compliance with international environmental standards. The resort will operate year-round and will become a modern recreational area. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. President Sadyr Japarov has emphasized the importance of the "Ala-Tuu Resort" project for the tourism and economy of the country.
