The presidential advisor noted that a court hearing involving the former president is inevitable.
According to Cholponbek Abykeev, the return of former president Kurmanbek Bakiev may clarify the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of assets in April 2010, as well as the tragic events in Bishkek. In an interview with KNIА, he stated that Bakiev bears responsibility for the victims who died on April 7, 2010, and a criminal case has been initiated in this regard. "If he returns to Kyrgyzstan, law enforcement agencies will likely detain him," Abykeev noted.
The presidential advisor also emphasized that many questions regarding the events of April 2010 remain unanswered. "For example, it is still unknown where the bullets were fired from. I am not directly claiming this, but it is known that Atambayev entered the 'Forum' building armed. If Bakiev returns, a trial involving him will be inevitable. We will find out who was looting after April 7, and where the money from bank vaults disappeared to, as well as valuables from Maxim Bakiev's and his family's homes," he added.
Abykeev also noted that after the return of Askar Akayev, facts related to the sale of gold and the "Kumtor" case were revealed. "Many secrets may be uncovered if Bakiev returns, especially in the area of economic crimes," he emphasized.
"Let Bakiev come and answer before the court and the people. The process will be open," concluded the presidential advisor.
