In a podcast by the agency "Kabar," the president of the Federation of Mountaineering of Kyrgyzstan, Eduard Kubatov, emphasized that Sadyr Japarov demonstrated significant determination by regaining control over Kumtor in just eight months. In his opinion, this project had long been used not only for economic but also for political purposes.
Kubatov noted that during Askar Akayev's rule, serious mistakes were made, resulting in Kyrgyzstan losing its stake in the Kumtor mine. Attempts to regain it during Kurmanbek Bakiyev's leadership were unsuccessful and did not yield tangible results for the people.
He also added that moving forward is impossible without decisive actions from the president, which makes his role and actions particularly important for the country's progress.
