Kyrgyz. Born in Frunze. Graduated from the Moscow Geological Exploration Institute named after Ordzhonikidze (1954), postgraduate studies at the Institute of Mining of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1960).
Worked as a junior researcher, head of the laboratory, deputy director, director of the Institute of Mining and Geology, academic secretary of the Department, president of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR, and since 1994 — director of the Institute of Mining and Geology of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR.
Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, International Academy (Moscow), Russian Academy of Mining Sciences (Moscow), California Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Industry (USA), International Academy of Ecology, Human Safety, and Nature.
Included in the list of 2000 Outstanding People of the 20th Century (International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England). Specialist in the field of geomechanics of rocks and masses. Awarded medals from the USSR, Certificate of Honor from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR (1972).
Honored Worker of Science of the Kyrgyz SSR (1972). More than 250 scientific works published, including 7 monographs, 15 inventions, and 1 scientific discovery. Under his supervision, 7 doctoral and 21 candidate dissertations have been defended.
