ZUSIK Alexander Ivanovich

Architect. Candidate of Architecture.
Born in 1951 in the city of Frunze.
In 1973, he graduated from the architectural and construction faculty of the Frunze Polytechnic Institute.
Since 1973, he has been working at the "FrunzeGorProject" institute. In 1981, he completed his full-time postgraduate studies at the State Committee for Civil Construction under the Central Research Institute for the Design of Educational Buildings in Moscow and defended his candidate dissertation. Currently, he is the chief architect of projects at the "FrunzeGorProject" institute.
Member of the Union of Architects of the USSR since 1976.
The search for a new image is the main task of architectural creativity. This quality of search is inherent in all the creative activities of A. Zusik, who successfully combines practical and scientific-pedagogical work. Working under the challenging conditions of real design for seismic areas, the architect finds extraordinary and even romantic images. A. Zusik's works are characterized by individuality, freshness of approach, and originality.
A. Zusik is an active participant in many republican, nationwide, and international competitions and reviews, where he has repeatedly been awarded prizes. One of his notable competition works was a project on the theme: "Housing of Tomorrow," conducted by the International Union of Architects in connection with the International Year of Youth, celebrated under the auspices of the UN in 1985 and in preparation for the World Exhibition ("Tsukuba-85" and UNESCO). As a result of the competition, the team of Kyrgyz architects (A. Zusik, S. Ryspekov, A. Zagrudny, and T. Ryspekova) was awarded the KENESKO prize. In all architectural competitions, A. I. Zusik was the head of the author team.
For the high professional level of a number of projects, he was awarded the III prize at the VII All-Union Review of the Creativity of Young Architects of the USSR (Union of Architects of the USSR and the Central Committee of the Komsomol) in 1977.
In 1979, he was awarded a diploma of the I degree at the review of the creativity of young architects of the Moscow branch of the Union of Architects (MOSA). At the I All-Union Review "Best Project of 1983," he was awarded a diploma from the Union of Architects of the USSR.
In 1984, he was awarded a bronze medal from UNESCO "For the Protection of Cultural Heritage" in Paris, and in 1985 in Tokyo—"Peace Medal" from the National Commission of UNESCO Japan.
In 1986, he was awarded the I prize at the IX All-Union Review of the Creativity of Young Architects.
