Zainidin Kurmanov, a well-known public and political figure, characterized the recent statements of Almazbek Atambayev, which appeared in some media outlets, as populist and naive. The expert believes that through manipulation, Atambayev seeks to return to the political arena and create a rift in society.
“People who are savvy in political intrigues do not deserve our attention. World practice shows that empty talk and playing to the gallery often overshadow common sense. This primarily concerns the speaker himself, and then his listeners, who may support him. This creates a kind of political whirlpool, which is essentially his goal,” he noted.
Kurmanov also emphasized that Atambayev is driven by a desire for revenge and to regain his positions. He uses his resources to sow doubts in people's minds. “During Sooronbay Jeenbekov's rule, he exhibited an unhealthy obsession. His team was caught stealing during the reconstruction of the CHPP, he himself participated in the redistribution of criminal interests, freeing one of his bodyguards and sending another abroad. What else is there to talk about?” added the politician.
Kurmanov reminded that Atambayev is hiding in Spain while continuing to weave intrigues. “He promised to return and testify in criminal cases, but we are still waiting for him. Let him come back and tell how everything happened. Judging by the comments and likes on the internet, one picture emerges, but if you go out into the streets, you can see how Kyrgyzstan has changed over the past five years. This is no longer the country it used to be, and there is nothing to discuss here. Debates with people who do not remember their own mistakes and are full of cynicism are, in my opinion, pointless. If there is no confusion in people's minds, then there will be no devastation in the country,” Zainidin Kurmanov concluded his opinion.
