The Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on Science and Education held an off-site meeting, during which its members familiarized themselves with the work of the National Academy of Sciences.
According to the press service of the parliament, the meeting was attended by deputies: Gulsharkan Kultaeva, Saltanat Amanova, Bolot Sagynaev, Seidbek Atambaev, and Erulan Kokulov, led by the committee chair Toktobubu Ashymbaeva.
The participants discussed issues related to scientific research work, as well as participation in state scientific and scientific-technical programs. The President of the National Academy of Sciences, Kanatbek Abdrakhmatov, presented a brief report on the organization's activities.
Saltanat Amanova emphasized the shortcomings in the implementation of legislation in the field of science, noting that the creation of a technology park based on the National Academy of Sciences had not been realized.
Gulsharkan Kultaeva expressed concern about unutilized funds allocated for the years 2023-2028 under the state order and called on scientists to actively participate in the development of major state projects. She added that scientific analysis should be taken into account when implementing large projects, especially in the field of subsoil use and infrastructure, to minimize risks.
Bolot Sagynaev raised environmental issues in the Issyk-Kul region, emphasizing the need to study the causes of the lake's shallowing. Deputy Seidbek Atambaev supported his proposal to create a specialized commission to address this problem.
The committee chair Toktobubu Ashymbaeva also noted the importance of effective use of budgetary funds in the context of fulfilling state orders, adhering to the calendar plan, and the practical application of research results. During the meeting, issues regarding the acquisition of modern equipment for the printing center and increasing salaries for research staff were also discussed.
Additionally, the deputies familiarized themselves with the condition of a two-story utility building belonging to the Kyrgyz National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after A. Maldybaev. A meeting with theater staff, who oppose the transfer of the building to the Ministry of Finance, allowed them to present their arguments.
The Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy, Mirbek Mambetaliev, reported that the building was put into operation in 1982 and has not been renovated since then. He added that the Cabinet of Ministers plans to move the theater to a new modern building, and funding issues have already been resolved, as well as a location for the future construction.
