The highest increase in consumer prices was recorded in Osh — by 9%, which is related to the rise in prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (by 12.1%), Shokenov specified.
In the Chui region, food products and non-alcoholic beverages have increased in price by 10.5%, while in the Batken region, non-food goods have risen in price by 8.1%. In Bishkek, tariffs for services to the population have increased by 10.4%.
In response to the current situation, the authorities of Kyrgyzstan have taken measures to curb inflation: they extended state regulation of meat prices, strengthened control over gasoline prices, and raised the key interest rate of the National Bank. Nevertheless, the rise in food prices remains one of the main problems for people, especially against the backdrop of rising fuel prices and the approaching New Year.
