According to expert Sergey Stankevich, after December 25, Russia may reinstate mandatory labeling for goods imported from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, which will be the result of the temporary regime coming to an end.

Stankevich suggests that the process of returning to the requirements will take place in a soft manner, as "it is better to act gradually, like a therapist, than to cut it off at the root."

He also noted that there may be a short-term increase in prices due to the exit of illegal importers; however, over time, as the market adapts and competition increases, prices may decrease.

According to the expert's estimates, the transition to the new rules will go smoothly if the agencies work professionally. The main threat lies in possible misunderstandings between the member states of the EAEU.

Internal disputes within the union regarding the location of customs duties continue to affect the flow of goods. Stankevich emphasized that product labeling reduces the share of "gray" schemes and creates a healthier competitive environment among honest suppliers.

Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended the simplified import rules for goods from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan until December 25, which applies to Russian legal entities and implies compliance with certain conditions.

It is also worth noting that the EAEU conducted a pilot project on product labeling, which allows countries to track the movement of goods across the territorial union, their origin, and characteristics without additional procedures. At the end of September, Mikhail Mishustin, the Chairman of the Government of Russia, announced the system's readiness for full-scale launch within the EAEU, which was confirmed by the heads of government of the participating countries at a meeting in Minsk.
