According to research, the volume of direct foreign investments from China to Kyrgyzstan increased from $826 million in 2016 to $2.1 billion in the first half of 2025, experts from the Eurasian Development Bank reported.

As of today, Kyrgyzstan accounts for 5.8% of the total volume of Chinese investments in Central Asia, which is an increase compared to 4.2% in 2016. Investments from the PRC in Kyrgyzstan mainly go to the mining and processing industries: 34% (about $722 million) is directed to the raw materials sector, while 37% ($780 million) is allocated to the processing industry, the EDB clarified.

Funding for this project is provided through the investor's own funds and borrowed resources with the support of the Green Energy Fund under the government of Kyrgyzstan.

The Chinese side holds a 51% stake in this project. The total volume of Chinese investments is estimated at $3.53 billion, part of which will be allocated from the investor's own funds, while $2.35 billion will be in the form of concessional loans from Chinese financial institutions.

Analysts note that "the projected line, which will be over 500 km long and will mostly pass through Kyrgyzstan, will become an important link in the transit route between China and the regions of the Middle East and Europe, significantly enhancing the country's transit potential."

Additionally, the EDB mentioned the Hunan Junxin Environmental Protection solid waste disposal plant located in Bishkek, as well as China's plans to build a coal logistics center, Xinjiang Dacheng Yuanlong Technology, in the Osh region.
