The government agencies are considering the reconstruction project of CHPP-2. This was announced by Arzymat Aldayev, Deputy General Director for Economics and Finance of Gazprom Kyrgyzstan, at a press briefing.

According to him, the contract for gas supply for CHPP-2 has already been signed, and all investment programs will be synchronized with this goal. "We plan to start supplying gas to CHPP-2 in the heating season of 2027/2028. For this purpose, agreements have been signed with neighboring countries, under which the construction of main pipelines is being carried out," he noted.

Arzymat Aldayev also emphasized that one of the key tasks of constructing CHPP-2 is to reduce the electricity deficit and decentralize the sources of electricity and heat production.

"CHPP-2 was originally designed during the Soviet era to provide heating and hot water to the southwestern district of Bishkek according to the general plan of the capital," he added.

In addition, the Deputy General Director noted that currently CHPP-1 uses gas for igniting coal. "To fully transition the station to gas, it is necessary to significantly increase the volume of blue fuel supplies to the country," he concluded.
