Talgarbek Izaakov: Kyrgyzstan needs a soil science institute

As part of the agro-dialogue in Bishkek, organized by the deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, Mahabat Mavlyanova, experts met to discuss Kyrgyzstan's transition to organic farming. One of the central topics of the discussion was the proposal to establish a research institute in the country specialized in soil science.

Talgarbek Izaakov, head of the Department of Soil Science, Agrochemistry, and Agriculture at KNAU, as well as a candidate of agricultural sciences, expressed his opinion. He emphasized the importance of such meetings, highlighting that they serve as a link between theory, science, and practice. According to him, organic agriculture is not just a rejection of chemical fertilizers, but a path to responsible production and the preservation of soil fertility for future generations.

In his speech, Talgarbek Izaakov focused on serious issues related to soil degradation and the decline in crop quality. He noted that the KNAU department is already actively conducting research in this area and training specialists in environmentally safe agricultural technologies. University students study courses such as "Organic Farming" and "Ecological Farming" under the guidance of experienced instructors.

In conclusion of his speech, the scientist, on behalf of the Society of Soil Scientists, emphasized the need for a systematic approach from the state towards the country's resources. He expressed hope that the establishment of a specialized soil science institute and active collaboration between farmers, scientists, and businesses would help Kyrgyzstan achieve a qualitative breakthrough in the development of organic agriculture and ensure environmental safety for the population.
