The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced his decision to impose a 10% tariff on imports from all countries around the world. This information was posted on his account on the social network Truth Social.

As Trump noted, the decree was signed in the Oval Office and will take effect "virtually immediately."

The statement published on the White House website indicates that the new tariffs will come into effect on February 24 and will be valid for 150 days.

Some categories of goods, such as critical minerals, energy resources, fertilizers that are not produced in the United States, as well as certain types of agricultural products, medicines, electronics, vehicles, and other transportation products, will not be subject to the additional tariff.

Furthermore, goods important for national security, as well as those regulated by the trilateral trade agreement between the United States, Mexico, and Canada (USMCA), are also exempt from the new tariffs.

The statement also mentions the termination of previously imposed tariffs that were established under the emergency powers law. In particular, this concerns tariffs introduced in April 2025 on products from 185 countries and territories. Tariffs imposed on China, Mexico, and Canada due to issues of illegal immigration and drug smuggling, as well as on states that purchased oil or gas from Venezuela, are also being lifted.

In addition, the decree that imposed an additional 25% tariff on oil imports from Russia for India in August 2025 has also been revoked.

Earlier, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the government exceeded its authority by imposing import tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). However, the court did not specify whether there would be a refund of previously paid tariffs.
