The Forest Service, which is part of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, today received 20 tractors from a total of 116 units of equipment transferred by the Ministry of Emergency Situations. This was reported by Murataly Tagaev, the director of the Forest Service, in an interview with the "Kabar" agency.
According to Tagaev, the new tractors will be intended for various economic tasks within the forest system.
“At the moment, we are receiving 20 tractors that were purchased with funds from the republican budget. One of the significant advantages of these machines is that we will not face difficulties with spare parts. These tractors can operate on various qualities of diesel fuel and have the capability to connect different types of attachments, making them versatile for fieldwork. Our material and technical base has not yet been fully updated, as most of the equipment is still from the Soviet era and has already become outdated. Currently, we are in the process of writing off non-operational equipment that has essentially turned into scrap metal,” he noted.
It is worth adding that in 2025, the Forest Service acquired 30 JAC T8 SUVs with its own funds and distributed them among the forest enterprises of the republic.
“Our goal is to completely update the material and technical base of the Forest Service. The 'Zhelmayans' are currently well-suited for greenhouse work. Previously, we also purchased 20 motorcycles and 20 units of 'Zhelmayans'. In total, we have about 280 units of equipment across the republic, and almost 60 percent of them are outdated machines from the Soviet era. In addition, we are purchasing drones,” Tagaev added.
According to him, forests cover 6.4 percent of Kyrgyzstan's territory, which amounts to approximately 900 thousand hectares. Currently, about 2.5 million people are engaged in activities directly related to forests.
