Bishkek will become a port, and military vessels of the Kyrgyz Republic will not transport nuclear materials

The discussion of the new Maritime Commercial Code began with public participation

According to the draft of the new Maritime Commercial Code being developed in Kyrgyzstan, military vessels of the republic will not transport nuclear materials.

This document aims to create a legal infrastructure for maritime transport and the use of vessels registered under the flag of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Code has been presented for discussion among citizens.

These new rules will help regulate commercial shipping and will grant Kyrgyzstan, despite its lack of access to the sea, the right to access international waters and freedom of navigation in accordance with international law. It is planned to create a registry of vessels with registration in the capital port of Bishkek, and the vessel numbers must be indicated in Latin letters on their sterns. A separate point emphasizes that the country's military vessels will not engage in the transportation of nuclear cargo.

Both citizens of Kyrgyzstan and foreign nationals will be eligible to own registered vessels.
