As reported on the air of "Birinchi Radio" by the coordinator of the CASA-1000 project implementation group, Azim Moldokerimov, Uzbekistan is actively interested in electricity supplies within the framework of this project.

He noted that there are many investors willing to participate in the sale of electricity.

“The program implies open access. If third parties have electricity for sale, they can easily participate in this process. Uzbekistan, in particular, has a significant surplus of electricity in the summer. The four participating countries will receive transit income of 1.5 cents for each kilowatt-hour, and this amount will be evenly distributed. Thus, the project will provide us with income. However, this is a preliminary price, and tariffs may be revised upwards,” Moldokerimov added.

It is planned that electricity supplies will begin in the summer period.

When asked about the possibility of electricity shortages in Kyrgyzstan, the radio host sought Moldokerimov's opinion. He replied that projects for electricity generation are actively being implemented in the republic, including mini-hydropower plants and renewable energy sources.

“When the CASA-1000 project starts operating in 2028, we will move from a deficit to a surplus and will be able to supply excess energy,” he noted.

CASA-1000 is a regional initiative aimed at exporting electricity, connecting the energy systems of Central and South Asia, allowing energy to be transmitted from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The project started in 2016 and is designed to ensure the transmission of 1300 megawatts of surplus electricity from the countries in the region to high-demand markets in South Asia by creating new energy infrastructure.
