According to information presented at a meeting of the Ministry of Energy's board, Kyrgyzstan faced an electricity deficit of 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours in 2022.

In 2025, the republic consumed 19.3 billion kilowatt-hours, while its own electricity generation was only 15.4 billion.

The main sources of electricity generation included large hydroelectric power stations (12.9 billion), thermal power plants (2.01 billion), small hydropower plants (0.223 billion), and renewable energy sources (0.234 billion).

To meet the country's needs, 3.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were imported from neighboring countries.

At the same time, last year Kyrgyzstan actively developed green energy:

In addition, the modernization of existing hydroelectric power stations was carried out, which allowed for an increase in their capacity by 69 megawatts.
