Kyrgyzstan has adopted a strategic course towards "Green Energy," aimed at achieving complete energy independence and carbon neutrality. This initiative is outlined in the country's development program until 2030.

It is expected that the country's authorities will significantly change the structure of the energy system, setting a goal to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the total generation volume to 92 percent. It is also planned that the annual electricity generation from renewable energy sources will reach 7.5 billion kilowatt-hours.

Environmental Initiatives and Strategic Goals

The program includes ambitious plans for modernizing the energy infrastructure. In particular, it is proposed to reduce electricity transmission losses to 10 percent.

Climate aspects will also play an important role in the plans: the republic intends to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 16 percent through domestic resources and by 44 percent with international support. The reserve of guaranteed capacities in the energy system will range from 550 to 700 megawatts.

New Technologies and Capacity Expansion

To address the electricity shortage, the government plans large-scale construction of new facilities.

Digitalization and Energy Efficiency

The reform will also affect consumers: a "net metering" system will be introduced in the country, allowing households to sell excess solar energy back to the grid.

The introduction of differentiated tariffs based on the time of day will encourage load shifting to periods of low demand for both businesses and citizens.

Industrial enterprises will undergo energy audits, and the construction sector will be transitioned to modern thermal insulation standards. Digitalization of networks with the implementation of intelligent management systems and "smart" meters will ensure transparency in accounting and a quick response to emergency situations.

Investments and Regional Leadership

Kyrgyzstan not only plans to meet its internal energy needs but also to export clean electricity. To this end, a regional energy exchange market will be established, and new interstate power transmission lines will be built.

The government aims to achieve energy system self-sufficiency by 2030, actively attracting "green" financing and developing public-private partnerships.
