Kyrgyzstan is activating efforts to eliminate trade barriers in the EAEU

Kyrgyzstan plans to intensify its activities aimed at eliminating trade barriers within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This was announced by Choro Seyitov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic. The main areas of work will include phytosanitary control, regulation of the import and export of food products, and the removal of existing trade obstacles.

Seyitov noted that not all products entering the country's market meet the necessary standards, which requires increased control and improvement of regulatory mechanisms.

“Despite current efforts, various barriers still remain within the EAEU, which we strive to eliminate to improve mutual trade,” he emphasized. In particular, there are plans to update the methodology for assessing trade barriers. The Kyrgyz side has already raised the issue of increasing the level of consideration of such problems, and in some cases, requirements are sent to the EAEU court due to arising discrepancies. Seyitov expressed hope that this process will become more efficient.

According to the deputy minister, this will significantly reduce trade restrictions between the member states of the union.

In addition, Kyrgyzstan will continue to develop its transport infrastructure, including Eurasian transport corridors and integration projects in logistics. There will also be an emphasis on digitizing all procedures related to the documentation and movement of goods.

Work is also underway in the field of intellectual property, including legal protection of trademarks and developments. In the energy sector, efforts are focused on ensuring the stable functioning of the country's fuel and energy complex.

Moreover, Choro Seyitov emphasized the need to develop the agro-industrial sector and ensure the availability of medicines. He noted that the EAEU countries use a mechanism of indicative balances, which allows for the rapid opening of markets for supplies in case of a shortage of certain products. This mechanism has already been successfully used in relation to fuel and lubricants.

Work is also ongoing to unify the requirements for drug production and enhance phytosanitary control, so that animal products entering the country meet all established standards.
