Italy is intensifying cooperation in agronomy and technology

During the international business forum dedicated to agro-innovations, held in Tashkent under the title "Innovations, Regenerative Agriculture, and Digitalization for Sustainable Agroecosystems," Italy's Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida announced plans to strengthen ties with Central Asia in the fields of agriculture, technology, and sustainable development.

He emphasized that Italy shows a systematic interest in the region, indicating a strategic approach to expanding partnerships. Key areas of cooperation include economic collaboration, ensuring food security, and implementing innovative solutions in the agricultural sector.

Lollobrigida noted that the forum served as an excellent platform for direct contacts between companies and discussions of potential joint projects. The Italian side expresses particular interest in sectors such as industry, energy, water resource management, and agriculture.

The minister stressed the necessity of ensuring food security, stating that each country should have the ability to develop its own agricultural policy, support farmers, and provide the population with quality food products.

Italy is ready to share its rich experience in the agricultural sector and scientific achievements, including the implementation of genomic technologies, digitalization of agriculture, development of sustainable production methods, and the selection of crops adapted to climate change.

The importance of mechanization in the agricultural sector was also highlighted by the minister. The Italian agricultural machinery industry, including the manufacturers' association FederUnacoma, exports its products to more than 180 countries, offering various solutions for different farms.

Additionally, issues of developing educational programs and scientific cooperation were discussed, particularly an agreement between Uzbekistan and Toshi University aimed at fostering academic exchanges and training qualified specialists.

In conclusion of his speech, Lollobrigida emphasized that Italy views Central Asia as a strategic partner and plans to develop long-term relationships focused on sustainable development, the implementation of innovative solutions, and the realization of joint investment projects.
