A working meeting took place in Bishkek between Almambet Shykmamatov, the Chairman of the State Tax Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, and representatives of the Swiss company SICPA SA, known for its protective technologies and product traceability systems. This was reported by the press service of the State Tax Service.
Present at the meeting were Philippe Amon, Chairman of the Board and CEO of SICPA SA, as well as Jean-Philippe Godin, Director of Strategic Development, and other company representatives, along with heads of structural divisions of the State Tax Service.
The main topic of discussion was cooperation in the implementation of a traceability system for gold mining and associated minerals, adapted to the conditions of Kyrgyzstan. This system will improve the management of artisanal mining activities, optimize sampling procedures, control the supply of ore and gold, and reduce the risks of illegal circulation of precious metals.
Shykmamatov emphasized that the implementation of a gold traceability system is an important strategic task for the country.
“Kyrgyzstan has many deposits and companies engaged in gold mining. However, the lack of effective traceability mechanisms can lead to data distortion and concealment of extraction volumes by unscrupulous players,” said Almambet Shykmamatov.
He added that significant preparatory work has already been done in collaboration with SICPA SA. A working group has been created, a draft roadmap has been prepared, and the necessary groundwork has been established for transitioning to practical implementation. The parties are now ready to sign the relevant documents.
SICPA SA's CEO, Philippe Amon, noted that the company supports the State Tax Service's decision to implement a monitoring system in the gold mining sector and considers this meeting important for further cooperation.
He also added that the successful implementation of the project will serve as a foundation for new joint initiatives and will allow for the expansion of cooperation in the field of other minerals.
It is worth noting that SICPA SA is a Swiss technology company specializing in protecting currency notes, documents, and goods from counterfeiting and illegal circulation.
