The initiative is being implemented with the support of FAO and the Kyrgyz Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture, and its main goal is to educate farmers on methods of self-diagnosing soil conditions and applying available improvement techniques.
The trained "doctors for soils" play a key role in this project, acting as a link between the scientific community, government structures, and agricultural producers.

The first training seminar for master trainers took place in Bishkek from March 23 to 27. During this training, 25 specialists from various regions of the country studied theory and practice, including soil properties, diagnostic methods, and ways to improve soil fertility. Participants learned methods for determining soil acidity using special indicators and received kits for self-analysis.
Additionally, practical sessions for farmers were organized in the Chui region, where trainers were able to apply their knowledge in practice.
The global initiative "Doctors for Soils" started in 2020 and already covers 28 countries. It involves more than 1,500 specialists who have assisted over 14,000 farmers in implementing sustainable agricultural practices. Kyrgyzstan's participation in this program will help reduce soil degradation, increase yields, and strengthen the resilience of the agricultural sector in the long term.
