Bektur Ashyrbekov, a resident of Manas, advocates for the rights of people in wheelchairs and strives for the installation of ramps in the city.

Despite his health challenges, he has managed to obtain an education in programming, management, and economics. Currently, he conducts classes for students, develops a small business, and is studying in graduate school. His life motto — "to step over those who can walk" — has become the foundation of his success.

Now, Bektur continues his studies in the graduate program at the K.Sh. Toktomamatov International University and also teaches at the college of this university. His online course "Computer Literacy" helps many. "When I went to the first grade, I started having mobility issues, which eventually led to a wheelchair. After the diagnosis, I studied at home until the 8th grade. In the 9th grade, I began listening to psychological lectures online, which motivated me to return to school. I started catching up, and by the 11th grade, I was reading a lot. In the National Testing, I scored 133 points thanks to the books I read, which boosted my confidence and broadened my horizons. I didn't think about the opinions of others and confidently enrolled in university with a full scholarship. In my third year, I began substituting for teachers and teaching first-year students. After graduating, I stayed to work there," he shares.

Bektur has always wanted to engage in business. Once, while visiting a café, he learned that they needed stickers for cups. "I bought paper and contacted a printing house, where they fulfilled the order at an affordable price. This allowed me to earn money, and I started creating menus for cafés and restaurants. I dreamed of having my own printer to print everything myself. In my third year, I learned about a seminar on entrepreneurship support in Osh, where I studied how to start a business and defended my project for purchasing printers, which was selected among 20 participants. We produce menus, business cards, and diplomas. The educational institution provided me with a space. The business is developing slowly, but I believe that the work will bear fruit," he says.

According to Bektur, people with disabilities need not only support but also an understanding of their psychological needs.

"Safety is important for everyone. The conditions in which people with disabilities live often do not take their needs into account. They require support and psychological assistance. Education is the foundation of everything. I cannot perform physical work, but I gain knowledge. Education helps improve life. They say: 'Set a goal — run, if you can't run — walk, if you can't walk — crawl.' We must set goals and develop. There are no limits for us in knowledge and work," noted Ashyrbekov.
