According to the latest information, Alimkhanuly failed the VADA doping test, which led to the cancellation of his upcoming fight.
Journalist Dan Rafael reports that the athlete tested positive for meldonium, which was the reason for the fight's cancellation.
Alimkhanuly, who has a record of 17-0, was scheduled to face Erislandy Lara, whose record stands at 29-3-3, in the upcoming bout.
Janibek commented on the situation via social media:
“I have always advocated for clean sports, you know that. I had amazing feelings when I read the news. The first VADA test showed cleanliness. I haven't changed my vitamins. I don’t understand what happened in the second test, so I requested a retest.”
The organizers of the boxing evening announced that instead of Alimkhanuly, 34-year-old Colombian Yohann Gonzalez (36-4, 24 KOs) will participate in the fight.
