According to him, the museum consists of 9 exhibition departments. The museum was established as a historical museum on April 2, 2008. At that time, premises were allocated for it, which previously housed employees of the KGB and the city culture department. The building was constructed in 1956.
As Niyazov states, since the museum's opening, the collection of exhibits representing historical and cultural value has begun. To enrich the museum's fund, residents of the city of Sulukt contributed by donating personal items from the workers of the first coal mines, archival documents, and exhibits that hold ethnographic and archaeological significance.
The museum comprises 9 exhibition departments — named after I. Razakov, notable figures, archaeology, ethnography, veterans, miners, national musical instruments, and fine art paintings.
