In Kara-Kul, currently lives Shalva Enokyan, who previously worked as a hydro builder. He shared his memories of the visit of the People's Artist of the USSR Suymonkul Chokmorov in 1978. According to Enokyan, Chokmorov visited the city at that time along with the creative youth of Kyrgyzstan.
During that period, the construction of the Kurpsay Hydroelectric Power Station began, and the delegation stopped at the Toktogul Hydroelectric Power Station, where an excursion was organized for them, conducted by Koshbay Masirov, the secretary of the Komsomol Committee of Kyrgyzstan at the Naryn HPP. The next day, a ceremonial meeting took place at the House of Culture, attended by Tursunbek Chyngyshov, the first secretary of the Kara-Kul City Committee of the Party of the Osh Region. Shalva recalls that Chokmorov presented Chyngyshov with several books.

According to him, next to the "Edelweiss" café there was a summer cinema where mass events were often held. Nearby was a park where honored artists of the USSR performed. Enokyan also mentioned that after the opening of the Toktogul HPP, many famous personalities visited Kara-Kul, including the People's Artist of the USSR Evgeny Leonov and the Uzbek group "Yalla." He even managed to greet Leonov when he was a Komsomol activist.

Shalva also talked about the film "Men Without Women," which was shot in Kara-Kul in 1981. All the characters in the film were real residents of the village. Enokyan noted the role of Mamasala Sabirov, the foreman of the Komsomol youth brigade of climber-mountaineers.
The film also featured the role of the climber Omorkul, based on the image of M. Sabirov. Enokyan explained that the scene with the descending bulldozer was modeled from foam plastic. Hydro builders indeed worked in such conditions. The film also included a surveyor named Lyuba, reflecting the reality of those times when many girls worked at the Naryn HPP.

The roads in those years were indeed difficult and dangerous, as shown in the film. Enokyan remembers watching roe deer climbing the mountains, although he did not get to see wild boars. He also noted that the road to Tash-Kumyr was very risky, especially after rain, when landslides occurred. Shalva heard that Chokmorov was injured during the filming, but he himself did not witness this.
