On January 21, the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the UN Global Compact Network in Central Asia took place, attended by Ulanbek Nogaev, Chairman of the Management Board of OJSC "Eldik Bank" and a member of the Council. The meeting discussed the results of the Network's work for 2023-2025, as well as the main directions of the strategy for 2026-2030.
The proposed strategy includes active cooperation among companies, experts, and international partners, aiming to implement joint projects, introduce best practices for sustainable development, and apply analytical tools to form effective business solutions, which will help enhance the competitiveness of organizations in the region.
It is worth noting that OJSC "Eldik Bank" actively participates in the UN Global Compact and in 2023 became the first bank in the Kyrgyz Republic to join the Network, alongside more than 17,000 leading companies from 160 countries. Ulanbek Nogaev is the only representative from Kyrgyzstan on the Board of Directors of the UN Global Compact Network in Central Asia.
In his comments following the meeting, Ulanbek Nogaev emphasized the importance of the UN Global Compact Network as an international platform for promoting the principles of sustainable development and responsible business. He noted that participation in this Network allows companies to implement international practices, strengthen their contribution to social and environmental development, and improve corporate governance. In this regard, he urged the business community of Kyrgyzstan to participate more actively in the work of the UN Global Compact Network and to utilize its opportunities for achieving sustainable and long-term growth.
