Tierri Mariani, a Member of the European Parliament from France, expressed dissatisfaction with the policy pursued by the European Union regarding Kyrgyzstan and emphasized the importance of considering the unique characteristics of this country as well as its geopolitical position.

He reminded that Kyrgyzstan became the first state in Central Asia to receive the status of "democratic partner" from the Council of Europe. "I am surprised why such a wave of criticism suddenly fell upon Kyrgyzstan. Could it be related to the fact that former President Almazbek Atambayev is in exile in Spain? Why has this country suddenly attracted increased attention?" Mariani questioned.

In his opinion, although Kyrgyzstan is not perfect compared to other Central Asian countries, the situation here looks quite good. Mariani noted that elections are held in Kyrgyzstan, and the country can be observed. "President Sadyr Japarov welcomed you and your delegation. How many other heads of state have done the same to discuss such issues?" he added.

Despite the existing problems, the deputy noted that Kyrgyzstan is moving towards strengthening state institutions and forming its national history while maintaining relations with Russia. He also posed a rhetorical question about whether Europe is ready to accept 2 million Kyrgyz in the event of their possible expulsion from Russia. "Sometimes it is necessary to consider geopolitical reality, even if we want to teach the world," he emphasized.

Mariani highlighted that President Japarov enjoys significant support from the population, which is an example that European leaders could follow. He noted the effectiveness of the Kyrgyz president's fight against organized crime that threatens the integrity of the state.

In conclusion, the deputy called for cooperation with Kyrgyzstan: "You have fulfilled your mission and, I believe, are satisfied with its results. Let us focus on specific issues and continue our interaction. Stigmatization can lead to opposite results and push Kyrgyzstan towards those we want to distance them from," he summarized.
