According to the EAEU, the delays at the border are related to planned control measures. The organization emphasized that the inspections being conducted are temporary and targeted, aimed at eliminating the illegal circulation of goods that threaten Kazakhstan's national security.
In its statement, Kazakhstan expressed hope for mutual understanding and further cooperation to prevent illegal activities.
“It is important to note that such measures are the exclusive prerogative of the EAEU member states and do not contradict the principles of Eurasian integration. The treaty framework of the EAEU provides for the cancellation of various types of controls in mutual trade, except in cases defined by EAEU law. Ultimately, stable and mutually beneficial relations between countries should be based on the lawful actions of governments and authorities, while smuggling undermines economic stability and integration processes,” the publication states.
As reported by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Chui Region, on February 3, 2026, at the "Ak-Zhol" checkpoint, police officers, together with the Road Traffic Safety Department, organized a lunch for truck drivers.
On that day, more than 300 trucks were accumulated at the checkpoint, waiting for document processing to cross the border. In response to the long wait, the police decided to assist the drivers by providing them with hot meals and an opportunity to rest.
This approach is aimed at caring for the health and safety of drivers, as well as maintaining order at the checkpoint, which should help reduce tension and prevent conflicts.
The police also reminded drivers of the need to comply with traffic rules and take precautions during long stops, which contributes to overall road safety.
