In the new issue of the "Our People Abroad" section, 22-year-old Kubat Ulanbek uulu is featured, who is currently doing an internship in veterinary medicine in Nykøbing, Denmark, while continuing his boxing training.

Kubat was born in 2003 in the village of Zhany-Talaa, located in the Kara-Kuldzhin district of the Osh region. Turmush correspondent spoke with him about his life journey, work on a farm, and impressions of life in Denmark.

“I first studied at A. Myrzaibraimov School until the 11th grade, where I started boxing. After that, I went to Moscow, where I worked and learned English. Then I returned to Kyrgyzstan, enrolled in the Cambridge College, but did not go to England, and later entered the agricultural college of Osh State University. Now I am doing my internship in Denmark,” Kubat shared.

Kubat noted that sports remain an important part of his life even abroad. In Denmark, he was able to stand out during training and was selected for the boxing team.

“I am part of the boxing team that will represent Denmark in competitions. Soon there will be a tournament here, with local athletes and guests from Sweden and Germany participating,” he said.

“When I first came to the gym, I was paired with teenagers — they considered me a newcomer. I was winning, and soon they started asking, ‘Have you trained before?’” Kubat recalled.

Regarding his work on the farm, he described it as structured and requiring discipline: it is necessary to follow a routine and take care of the animals. He noted that breeding pedigree animals, including cows, is widely practiced in Denmark.

“At the moment, I work on a farm where I mainly take care of the cows — I feed and water them on time,” he explained.

Kubat also shared his impressions of the Danes, describing them as reserved, respectful, and punctual.

“I liked their attitude towards each other, their humanity. I noticed that they are not prone to talking much. They are very hardworking and punctual,” he added.

One of the memorable moments was related to a road situation when Kubat first felt how calmly people react to everyday difficulties.

“I learned to drive here. One day, while I was driving, my car stalled right in the middle of the road, and a queue formed behind me. No one honked — they just calmly waited for me to start the car again,” he recounted.

He also noted the differences in hospitality traditions and dining.

“Once I participated in their celebration. There are no excesses. The food is simply laid out — if you want, you take it and eat. No one insists: ‘Take some, try it.’ You take your plate and serve yourself what you like,” he explained.

As for the local cuisine, Kubat noticed that it is mainly based on vegetables and greens, and he believes that meat consumption is lower here.

“They cook a lot with vegetables and greens. They say their ancestors were Vikings, and they don’t eat meat that often,” he added.

Kubat characterized the climate in Denmark as humid and windy due to its proximity to the sea.

“The weather here is often humid, and strong heat is rare — the wind almost always blows. It’s colder here in winter than in Kyrgyzstan, but the nature is very beautiful,” he shared.

According to Kubat, he has several friends among the locals. He also noted that Danes mainly speak their language but easily switch to English when necessary.

“They have their own language, but many speak English. They start communicating in their native language, and if you don’t understand, they switch to English. They really respect their language,” he noted.

Kubat is friends with guys and girls who, although they came from other countries, grew up in Denmark.

When asked about the future, Kubat expressed a desire to apply his knowledge and experience in Kyrgyzstan, in the field of agriculture and entrepreneurship.

“In the future, I want to engage in entrepreneurship in agriculture in Kyrgyzstan and plan to import pedigree horses,” he concluded.
