On February 10 of this year, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, signed a decree in which Kamchybek Tashiev was relieved of his duties as Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the State Committee for National Security.

Some sources mistakenly claimed that he lost all his positions. In fact, Tashiev only resigned from his government roles.

It is worth reminding what roles he continues to fulfill.

Tashiev is the co-chairman of the "Ata-Zhurt" party, founded in 2006 together with Sadyr Japarov. In September 2024, he announced that the party would not participate in the upcoming elections.

Since 2008, Kamchybek Tashiev has also held the position of Vice President of the Boxing Federation.

As of February 2024, he became the President of the Kyrgyz Football Union, becoming the sole candidate for this position.

Upon taking office, he noted that football is not only a popular sport but also an important aspect of the country's image and international status.

“Many heads of state pay attention to the development of football. President Sadyr Japarov actively supports this idea and monitors what is happening in this area. He expressed concern and decided to provide support. Previously, the state did not pay enough attention to this, but starting this year, we will begin to allocate the necessary funds. However, funding alone will not solve all problems; results cannot be expected without state support and the use of administrative resources,” he said in his speech.

Furthermore, he emphasized that Kyrgyzstan should learn from those Asian countries that have elevated football to a high level.

“From this moment, we too are starting this journey, and I am confident that it will bear fruit. But it should be understood that results will not be instantaneous; it will take time. First and foremost, we need to address staffing issues, enhance the qualifications of coaches, referees, and other football specialists. We will be engaged in the reconstruction and construction of stadiums, as well as improving the material and technical base,” Tashiev shared about his plans, adding: “To implement what we have in mind, we need unity and cooperation. We must come together to reach new heights in football.”

In June 2025, Kamchybek Tashiev was elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after B. N. Yeltsin. His deputy became Artem Novikov, Chairman of the Board of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund.

According to the regulations of the Board of Trustees, its goal is to assist in addressing the current challenges of the university's development and to establish it as a center for training highly qualified specialists capable of solving tasks at the level of modern requirements, implementing the latest information and pedagogical technologies, as well as ensuring competitiveness in the market of educational and applied scientific services.
