At the meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations, which was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov, many important issues were raised. This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet.

In his speech, he emphasized that the establishment of a new ministry is a deliberate step aimed at fundamentally modernizing the higher education and science sector in the country.

“We set a clear task for the new ministry: to make universities centers of attraction for talent, sources of relevant knowledge, and the main drivers of the country's economic development for many years to come,” noted Edil Baisalov.

Discussing the implementation of the decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on granting special status to several universities, he emphasized that the results vary.

“Some universities have already taken advantage of the opportunities provided and have shown significant progress. At the same time, there are educational institutions that are still waiting for clarifications and decisions. The waiting time has expired,” Baisalov stated.

The Deputy Prime Minister also added that in the coming weeks, the presidential administration, together with the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations, will focus on coordinating the process of accelerated modernization. This includes reviewing curricula, eliminating outdated disciplines, optimizing ineffective areas, and introducing new courses that meet the demands of the modern labor market.

As a result of the meeting, key areas for reforming the higher education and science system were identified, specific tasks were established, and appropriate instructions were given. Oversight of the implementation of these decisions will be conducted at an elevated level.
