A sad event occurred in the Sokuluk district: a dead white-tailed eagle was found. The body of the rare bird was discovered near a water body close to the village of Ozyornoye on the morning of February 16. This was reported by ornithologist Gulbara Omorova.

The first to notice the deceased predator was birdwatcher Azamat Khasenov, who immediately notified the relevant group ASBK Ornithology.

The scientific community is concerned about this situation. Specialists noted that just a day prior, a live pair of eagles had been spotted in the area, which had initiated the incubation process. “The most alarming thing is that we were there the day before and saw live birds. We observed the pair that had begun nesting. There were no signs of danger, but now even an inspection protocol has not been drawn up, and the cause of death remains unknown,” Omorova reported.

According to ornithologists, the white-tailed eagle is listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan as a species threatened with extinction. Previously, they were considered only migratory, but last year one pair began nesting on the supports of power lines, which attracted the attention of specialists.

Ornithologists emphasize the urgent need for an examination to determine the cause of the bird's death, whether it be electrocution, poisoning, or other factors. They warn that without an official report and intervention from specialized services of the Ministry of Natural Resources, this case may go unnoticed, which is unacceptable for the conservation of the endangered species. Recently, another individual of the eagle was successfully operated on at a rehabilitation center; however, the current incident threatens the local population.
