The President of Kyrgyzstan called for accelerating the transition of the parliament to a digital work format

The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, has proposed to accelerate the transition of the Jogorku Kenesh to a digital work format. During a parliamentary session, he emphasized that the costs of paper products remain significant, and in recent years, many tons of paper have been used. According to him, between 9 to 18 tons of A4 paper are spent annually, totaling about 65 tons over five years.

Japarov noted that this paper is imported from abroad, making it important to reduce dependence on external supplies in various sectors. He expressed support for the idea of implementing an electronic work format for the parliament, discussing with the leadership the possibility of using tablets and laptops for deputies, as well as creating a fully-fledged electronic parliament.

“We need to leave paper and pens in the past. This is a requirement of modernity. We cannot continue to act as if we live in the 19th century. Developed countries took this step 30 years ago,” the president emphasized.

Additionally, he urged deputies who lack sufficient digital skills to undergo training on how to work with electronic devices. Japarov added that the transition to tablets would simplify the distribution of bills, making the process more efficient, as it would only require one staff member.

In conclusion, the president noted that the transition to an electronic format would significantly simplify the document storage process, allowing information to be archived in a compact digital form instead of using dozens of tons of paper.
